Am I Denouncing My Sorority???—-My Views…

Simply put, NOPE!
I have noticed the changes in the world. Things used to be so sacred, so secret, beautiful and fun and now, those things are everyone’s business. It has come to my attention that now so many people are “coming out” about their torrid sorority and fraternity experiences and are deterring possible new and present members from seeking and keeping membership because these organizations are deemed “satanic” and “ritualistic.” Well my thoughts are that it is in the individual. Many of these organizations were built on Christian principles, pride in different races and ethnicities. Why is it NOW they are so horrible? As someone who had a good experience, I feel that my organization supported my religious beliefs and only interfered if I allowed it. I am sad that these people who leave or openly and freely talking about our sacred information and submitting it to common knowledge. In my opinion, if you leave, leave quietly, not kicking and screaming. What I have noticed that many who go this route have had to leave the organizations because of things they “participated” in or because of other issues. Also there are many non-greeks who have NEVER had the experience….

Also note that: Many of the leaders we have had in the past were members of our well known sororities and fraternities and some of them are still with us today. Martin Luther King Jr, was a man of Alpha Phi Alpha. His wife was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha. You got Shirley Chisholm a member of Delta Sigma Theta who was the first African American elected to congress and Barbara Jordan a member of Delta Sigma Theta who was the first African American to serve on the Texas State Senate. Ruby Dee Davis and Cicely Tyson are well respected actresses and activists in the community are members of Delta Sigma Theta. You got influences like Bill Cosby and Rev. Jessie Jackson who are members of Omega Psi Phi, you got Cheryl Underwood (comedian) who is a member and president of Zeta Phi Beta. You got George Washington Carver Phi Beta Sigma. You got Mike Tomlin who is the coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Tavis Smiley, both members of Kappa Alpha Psi. MC Lyte is a member of Sigma Gamma Rho. The list goes on and on. So what I’m saying is that if these organizations are so terrible why do they produce some of the best of the best.
As a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority INC., I pride myself in the accomplishments of my organization and do not feel that they are satanic.Delta Sigma Theta is a non-profit Greek-lettered sorority of college-educated women who perform public service and place emphasis on the African American community. More importantly my organization was built on Christian principals and those principals are still instilled into every member today. I have held several leadership positions and I am still to this day very active with my sorority since crossing over in 2009. I’ll continue to support anyone who is a member of a sorority or fraternity (especially the Nat'l Pan Hellenic council). We all make a difference and we are NOT Satan worshippers!!

So what are your thoughts? Right or wrong??? Be sure to speak out on the forum!
