AM I THE BLACKSHEEP OR AM I JUST REALLY INDEPENDENT?

So I have been chatting with various of people these past couple of weeks, and as you all know I am very excited about the next chapter of my life, which is a new job in Saint Louis, Mo. I still am going to graduate school, it just won't be this year. Everyone always ask me are you sacred?... I always respond back with No, why would I be? I live 4 1/2 hours aways from home now. I have been living on my own since my freshmen year of college. When I moved to Norfolk, Va I did not know anyone and I did gr8. I am a people person and I am open to everything because I do not have a cling close to home mentality. I met people and I learned so much about myself and others. I don't like being close to the nest. I personally feel like people need to stretch their wings and experience life. And if your too close to home how can you really know what life is like. How can you  really call yourself independent when your still attached to the ebilical(I can't spell.lol.) cord. I feel like our parents raised us to grow up to be strong sensible adults. They want us to go out in the world and be good model citizens.

The Oxford English Dictionary describes homesickness as a feeling one has when missing home. Feelings of longing are often accompanied by anxiety and depression. These symptoms may range from mild to severe. Homesickness frequently occurs when one travels and may be exacerbated by unfamiliar environments or foreign cultural contexts. Homesickness is especially common in youth.

I was talking to a young lady and she has a really cool major, but if she wants to be successful in her field she's gonna have to move, because Virginia is not offering her what she needs. And she tells me I don't mine moving but if its too far from home then I won't go. WHAT?!?!? That's the stupidest thing I have ever heard of.  So then I said "so lets say you get a job 5 hours away will you go?" Then she says "no, Ill get homesick."  I then told her, which wasn't the nicest respond but it was a truthful respond. "Your stupid, why even waste your money and your parents money majoring in a degree that you will never excel in because your not willing to relocate(take a chance) because your sacred. Girl if you don't get a web cam, and skype your family and friends. What are you sacred for, your a grown ass woman. Are you serious?" I have heard four similar stories like this. I don't get it! I am pretty sure our parents will be sad to see us leave, but they will be OK. I mean what are y'all thoughts? Am I the only person in the world that doesn't get homesick? Am I the only person in the world that wants to spread my wings, fly, and experience life ? No one wants to fail at anything in life, but I feel like in life you sometimes have to fall and figured out on your own how to get back up.  Those that get homesick, are you sacred that you will not succeed because your safety net is not around? Are you afraid that you will be lonely? You do realize that you can make new friends right?  I know this post may sound like I am being a smart ass, and in a way I am. I just don't, for the life of me understand why somebody would cry about leaving home. Can someone please break this down to me. MAKE ME UNDERSTAND WHERE YOU ARE COMING FROM.PLZ!

  1. how do we not hang out! lol. i 100% agree. i am uber independent too. i look around at so many people moving back home to "save money" or just because they dont like paying rent. i can't even fathom the idea of moving back home. people are afraid to stretch their wings or they're used to being taken care of. i think our parent's generation grew up being forced to be independent at early ages so they said they wouldnt do their children that way. so our generation is a product of parents that think that have to always be there and provide everything for their kids. and also people aren't taught how to budget their finances. instead of budgeting for a place and bills they rather live rent free and blow their money.
