AM I THE BLACKSHEEP OR AM I JUST REALLY INDEPENDENT?

So I have been chatting with various of people these past couple of weeks, and as you all know I am very excited about the next chapter of my life, which is a new job in Saint Louis, Mo. I still am going to graduate school, it just won't be this year. Everyone always ask me are you sacred?... I always respond back with No, why would I be? I live 4 1/2 hours aways from home now. I have been living on my own since my freshmen year of college. When I moved to Norfolk, Va I did not know anyone and I did gr8. I am a people person and I am open to everything because I do not have a cling close to home mentality. I met people and I learned so much about myself and others. I don't like being close to the nest. I personally feel like people need to stretch their wings and experience life. And if your too close to home how can you really know what life is like. How can you  really call yourself independent when your still attached to the ebilical(I can't spell.lol.) cord. I feel like our parents raised us to grow up to be strong sensible adults. They want us to go out in the world and be good model citizens.

I was talking to a young lady and she has a really cool major, but if she wants to be successful in her field she's gonna have to move, because Virginia is not offering her what she needs. And she tells me I don't mine moving but if its too far from home then I won't go. WHAT?!?!? That's the stupidest thing I have ever heard of.  So then I said "so lets say you get a job 5 hours away will you go?" Then she says "no, Ill get homesick."  I then told her, which wasn't the nicest respond but it was a truthful respond. "Your stupid, why even waste your money and your parents money majoring in a degree that you will never excel in because your not willing to relocate(take a chance) because your sacred. Girl if you don't get a web cam, and skype your family and friends. What are you sacred for, your a grown ass woman. Are you serious?" I have heard four similar stories like this. I don't get it! I am pretty sure our parents will be sad to see us leave, but they will be OK. I mean what are y'all thoughts? Am I the only person in the world that doesn't get homesick? Am I the only person in the world that wants to spread my wings, fly, and experience life ? No one wants to fail at anything in life, but I feel like in life you sometimes have to fall and figured out on your own how to get back up.  Those that get homesick, are you sacred that you will not succeed because your safety net is not around? Are you afraid that you will be lonely? You do realize that you can make new friends right?  I know this post may sound like I am being a smart ass, and in a way I am. I just don't, for the life of me understand why somebody would cry about leaving home. Can someone please break this down to me. MAKE ME UNDERSTAND WHERE YOU ARE COMING FROM.PLZ!

My ultimate goal when I was younger was to just get out of Roanoke, VA. So I applied to all of these schools 1 1/2 hours or more away. I felt that if I attended a school far away that would allow me to grow,learn, and experience life. To some extent I believe that was true. I did grow and learn a lot about myself and others. I always felt that Roanoke was a dead end street and if I stayed there I would never accomplish anything. To some extent that was true.,but to some extent that was false as well.

I graduated from high school 5 years ago, and I graduated from college last year with two degrees. I have been going through different people facebook pages from my hometown and a lot of people are making me proud to say that I am from Roanoke, Va. A lot of young adults, I wanna say 25 years of age or younger are doing really well for themselves. Many are graduating from colleges and universities. I know this sounds bad, but there are some that people in the local neighborhoods that many did not have faith in went on to shock many with degrees and gr8 jobs.There were young teen mothers that could have given up and dropped out of high school from my hometown because of how society looks at teen pregnancy, but I know 2 young women in particular that graduated high school AND college with honors. Another young mother from my hometown, became a LPN and the other became a RN.  A young man who was a teen father graduated from a prestigious college and landed a gr8 job in DC. That makes me proud to see an intelligent, educated, black man that not only is making a difference in the world,but also in his child's life as well. Another young woman from my hometown was not a teen mother, but she had a illness, but I admire her drive because she didn't let her illness stop her from continuing her education, and she went back to school, and from the looks of it she is doing really well. A couple of old classmate have gone on and gotten their cosmetology license and are doing phenomenal in their field. One of my really gr8 friends, after working in the cosmetology field for almost four years, decided one day to apply to college and she got accepted. She is now a rising junior and thriving. I admire her because to pursue a degree after being out of school for almost 4 years is not easy. I am very proud of everyone for accomplishing or making progress to their goals. A couple of people have joined the military and are doing gr8 and even making ranks. Some are even traveling the world. I know of at least 7 young couples that have gotten married and about 4 that are engaged. That's always wonderful to hear and see. I love seeing the African American population receive their college degrees to become future leaders of America. And I love reading about the young people from back home that are becoming first time homeowners at such young ages. That's a task that I hope to accomplish in the next couple of years.

I am really proud of all the young adults from Roanoke who are doing so well. Shout out to the ones who are/have graduated college, those that have gr8 jobs, those that found a trade, those that joined the military, and those that are homeowners.. If your doing something positive with your life its something to be proud of and shout out loud about.

I TRULY BELIEVE HE IS THE KING OF R & B.... I HAVE BEEN IN MY HOUSE ALL DAY WATCHING THE R.KELLY WEEKEND ON CENTRIC.I THINK HE IS TRULY A TALENTED ARTIST!!!! HE CAN LITERALLY MAKE A SONG UP ABOUT ANYTHING AND MAKE IT SOUND SO GOOD. HE HAS WRITTEN INSPIRATIONAL SONGS, POP SONGS, GOSPEL SONGS,  ROCK, AND OH COURSE R&B... HE EVEN RAPS....SAW WHAT YOU WANT ABOUT HIM, BUT HE HAS BEEN IN THE GAME FOR OVER 25 YEARS AND HE STILL BETTER THAN HALF THESE ARTISTS WE SEE ON TV TODAY. HE A TRUE ARTIST.. OK LADIES AND GENTS THIS IS A VENT SESSION THAT IS A MUST FOR ME. I'M A MUSIC PERSON AND I'VE BEEN FEELING THIS WAY FOR A LOOOOONG TIME NOW.

THIS MUSIC TODAY IS AWFUL. EVERYWHERE YOU TURN SOMEBODY IS ALWAYS TALKING ABOUT SEX, MOST OF THESE ARTIST HAVE NO POSITIVE MESSAGES IN THEIR SONGS, I NO LONGER WANT TO HEAR ABOUT HOW MUCH MONEY SOMEONE HAS IN THE BANK(u ain't giving me none), OUR WORLD IS REALLY GOING DOWN AND INSTEAD OF TALKING ABOUT UPLIFTING THINGS THAT HELPS, ALL I HEAR ABOUT ARE THESE GOD AWFUL,GET MONEY QUICK SONGS WITH NO PASSION IN THEM.

IT ALSO MAKES ME MAD THAT THE PEOPLE WHO DO HAVE THE POSITIVE MUSIC,WHO ARE TRYING TO SPREAD A GOOD MESSAGE, WHO ARE TALENTED, DON'T GET RECOGNIZED FOR IT.YOU NEVER REALLY SEE THEM IN THE FOREFRONT LIKE THESE OTHER ARTIST WHO DON'T EVEN DESERVE IT. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE WAY MUSIC USED TO BE?WHAT HAPPENED TO THE COMPASSION AND INSPIRATION THAT YOU COULD ONCE FIND IN SECULAR MUSIC AND IT WAS OK TO LISTEN TO IT.LOOK AT HOW IT IS AFFECTING THE CHILDREN OF THIS GENERATION. THEY ARE BECOMING MORE PROMISCUOUS EARLY ON,THE PREGNANCY AGE IS GETTING LOWER AND LOWER,YOUNG MEN AROUND HERE NOT REALLY TAKING THEIR LIVES SERIOUSLY,THE PERCENTAGE OF MEN ACTUALLY WANTING TO WAIT TO MARRY A WOMAN BEFORE BEING SEXUALLY ACTIVE IS LESSENING.THEY THINK IT'S COOL TO TRY AND HAVE SEVERAL WOMEN.

THIS ALL STEAMS FROM THE MUSIC BECAUSE IT DOES HAVE A BIG INFLUENCE ON OUR WORLD TODAY. THE OTHER DAY A LITTLE GIRL'S MOM LETS HER LISTEN TO THAT CRAP. TELL ME WHY SHE CAN SAY A WHOLE NICKI MINAJ VERSE AND NOT JUST ON ONE SONG BUT SHE CAN'T EVEN SPELL HALF THE WORDS SHE SAYS. SHE'S 5 YEARS OLD AND IT JUST BURNS ME UP WHEN I SEE THIS. THIS IS WHO OUR LITTLE GIRLS HAVE TO LOOK UP TO??? NICKI MINAJ??? UGH!!!

IT SADDENS ME. FOR THESE REASONS I HAVE BEEN WORKING DAY TO DAY ON ELIMINATING THIS MESS FROM MY LIFE..IT'S NOT BENEFITING ME IN ANY WAY. Favor of God

To favor means to give special regard to; to treat with goodwill; to show exceptional kindness to someone. Sometimes, it means to show extra kindness in comparison to the treatment of others; that is, preferential treatment. However, favor is not always used in a comparative way toward others. It sometimes simply means that the one favored is shown kindness and treated with a generosity and goodwill far beyond what would normally be expected. This is generally the favor that we receive from the Lord. We are treated much better than we could expect. Of course, every believer is favored to some degree. Therefore, we must understand God's favor in degrees. The more we please God, the more we will be favored by Him. Also, it is important not to think of this favor in material or worldly terms. God's favor most likely will be given in spiritual blessings more than in material blessings. Here are some of the ways by which we obtain the favor of the Lord:

There are many benefits of being in the favor of the Lord. Here are some of them:

We can grow in favor both with God and with man-as did the child Samuel (1 Samuel 2:26And the child Samuel grew on, and was in favour both with the LORD, and also with men.

See All...). The phrase, to find favor in the eyes of, or, in the sight of, came from the Old Testament. Every saint of God should desire and seek to have favor in the eyes of the Lord. We grow in that favor as we faithfully live for the Lord.

I just want to thank the Lord for all the favor he has blessed me with. I thank the Lord for favor. I thank God everyday for His Favor for waking me up everyday, allowing me to back and forth in my car. The Lord's favor has gotten me out of bad situations, and the Lord's favor has open doors to new situations and better opportunities.  When I am absolutely broke (which happens often since I am a VISTA) and somehow someway I manage to have money to pay all my bills. Favor has touch people heart to give me money.(I don't think y'all understand just how broke I am, I mean, "I'm wanna cry I'm so broke, broke." And  I am not joking. Every time I look at my bills, and manage to get them paid, I thank GOD because That's favor!) The angels that surround me everyday and keep me out of harms way, that's favor! The Devil tries to steal your favor. Growing up, my mom would place post-it notes with the word "favor" written throughout the house. On the door, in the kitchen, TV, bathroom mirror, etc.  She always told me to never let the Devil steal your favor and every time we looks at the post-it notes, it should reminds us how much favor the Lord has given us.The Lord has used favor to place positive people in my life and assisting me at my job. I am just so thankful for all the favor that he has granted me!

Inspirational Songs that Inspire ME!

I was feeling a bit inspirational tonight. Below I have a couple of songs that I consider to be inspirational and why I think that. Please read and I hope you enjoy. Have a gr8 day!!

First up, This is a beautiful song that expresses gratitude to the people who have always been there for us whenever we need them. These people are the ones who made us who and what we are today; who taught us the amazing things in the world and made us bigger than we thought we could. It’s because of them that we can be where we are today. Without them, there can’t be us today.

Who are the people who have helped make you who you are today? Who have always been there when you’re down? Who opened your eyes to the world? Who guided you every step of the way? Where are they now? Have you stopped to thank them for what they have done? Take a moment and let them know how you feel. You owe them as much.

This second song tells you you don’t have to be afraid of who you are. When you feel fearful and lost, look deep inside. The strength to do what you want, and the answers you seek for in life, have always been inside you all along.There’s always been a hero in your life all along. The hero isn’t anyone else – it’s you.

This is the theme song of 1996 movie Space Jam. I remember they played this song for 5th grade graduation. This song is about how there are no goals and dreams that we can’t achieve. If we can see it, we can do it. It all starts with first believing in our ability :).

The song is about overcoming all obstacles and never giving up in life. As long as we keep pushing, keep persisting, we’ll definitely achieve whatever we set out to achieve.

This last song has already been played on my blog before. But it is a personal favorite for me and it had to be showcased again.. It tells you to leap into your destiny. Don't give up, your blessings are around the corner. Have faith in God and in yourself.

I just wanted to take the time to thank the woman that I admire and love with all my heart. My mother. She is a beautiful woman inside and out and I love that she is my biggest cheerleader and always knows what to say. I am not the kind of  daughter that likes to talk to my mom on the phone all the time or even everyday, but when we do chat we do have long conversations. I just like to have my space.lol. I believe we have a understanding and no matter where I am in life, I know that if I need anything she will drop what she is doing to assist me or drive down from From Roanoke Va to help me move, or watch me graduate from college, give me money when I need it, to all the way to just talking to me when I need someone to listen to. She is funny and many say that we act a like. So in my head that means she is pretty cool!!!
I found another poem online and I thought it was very fitting too.

Mother and daughter relationships are complex because the daughter looks to her mother as a role model of what a woman is. As she grows up and sees other woman who live their lives differently, she chooses between imitating her mother or other significant influences in her life. As an adolescent she may come to look down on her mother and think that other woman are much better. Of course she is not a fully grown woman so she does not understand the challenges and choices that her mother faces. It is only when she herself becomes a woman that she can fully appreciate her mother.
